I started plumbing in 2008, and eighteen years in this trade have taken me a long way from a Perth suburb: Defence work at RAAF Base Curtin and mine site infrastructure on Koolan Island — where I ran crews as leading hand supervisor — water and sewer for remote Kimberley communities, plumbing in Canada, and commercial work back in Perth — including Woodman Point, one of the biggest wastewater plants in the state.
The reason that matters for your blocked drain: on a Defence site or a mine, "she will be right" does not exist. Everything is diagnosed properly, documented, and signed off. I brought that standard home to the Fremantle coast — it is why Arise carries a guarantee most plumbers will not put in writing: show up on time, quote before we start, fix it right first time, or the job is free.
